Van immobiliser, Birmingham.

A van is a toolbox that drives. Losing it is not an inconvenience, it is the week gone and the jobs cancelled. LockCar CAN-IMMO runs on 12 to 24 volts, so the same module protects a Transit, a minibus, a motorhome or an HGV. From £199 per vehicle.

Two problems, and most people ask about the wrong one

Van owners ring us describing a break-in and ask for an immobiliser. Those are two different problems and it is worth being clear about which one you have, because the wrong purchase feels like protection and is not.

Problem one

The van leaves

Relay attack, cloned key, CAN injection. The vehicle is driven away intact, usually at night, usually quietly.

Solved by: an immobiliser. The engine will not start.

Problem two

The tools leave

A door skin peeled above the lock, or the lock popped. Ninety seconds, and the van is still on your drive in the morning.

Solved by: deadlocks, slam locks, an alarm on the rear doors. Not by us, and we will tell you so.

Why vans are targeted differently

A stolen car is usually sold, whole or in parts. A stolen van is often emptied and abandoned, because the contents move faster and trace less than the vehicle does. That changes the order in which you should spend money.

The second difference is keys. In a household there are two keys and everyone knows where they are. In a business with drivers coming and going there are spares, and copies of spares, and nobody is entirely sure how many exist. A system where access is a paired phone or TAG that you can unpair in seconds solves a problem a physical key never will.

Keyless vans are relayed exactly like cars

Modern vans use the same keyless entry systems. A key on a kitchen worktop can be relayed to a van on the driveway just as easily as to a car. How relay theft works.

Fitting more than one

  1. Send the list

How many vehicles, what they are, and where they are kept overnight. That is enough for a per-vehicle price.

  2. We do one first on a mixed fleet

Different vans take different amounts of time. We fit one, confirm the layout, then price the rest with no guesswork.

  3. Scheduled so the fleet keeps working

Vehicles go through one at a time rather than the whole yard stopping for a day.

  4. Drivers set up on the day

Phones paired, TAGs handed out, backup sequences agreed. Whoever is there gets shown how it works.

  5. Changes afterwards are a phone call

New driver, lost TAG, vehicle sold. You ring us, not a call centre.

Questions we get asked

How much is a van immobiliser in Birmingham?

LockCar CAN-IMMO starts from £199 and works on 12 to 24 volt vehicles, so vans, minibuses, HGVs and motorhomes are all covered. We quote a fixed price per vehicle once we know what you run.

Will it stop my tools being stolen?

Not on its own, and we would rather say so. An immobiliser stops the van being driven away. Protecting the load area is a different job: deadlocks, slam locks or an alarm on the rear doors.

Can you do several vans?

Yes. Tell us how many and where they are kept and we will work through them in sequence so the fleet keeps running.

What happens when a driver leaves?

A phone or TAG is unpaired. You are not chasing keys around a yard or rekeying a vehicle because somebody did not hand something back.

Does it work on 24 volt vehicles?

Yes. The module is specified for 12 to 24 volt DC.

Is there a monthly fee?

No. Core protection runs over a local Bluetooth connection with no subscription. If you want live tracking or a 4G camera across a fleet, that is a different LockCar configuration and it does involve data costs.

Can several drivers share one van?

Yes. Multiple phones or TAGs can be paired. Tell us the number of drivers at fitting.
